Johannesburg, West Rand gently rocked by Friday morning tremor
Johannesburg was rocking this morning, and it’s not because we’re in a brand new month.
Just before 7am on Friday morning, Gauteng residents were lurched from their sleep by a seismic tremor measuring a preliminary magnitude 3.8 on the Richter’s Scale.
This according to data from South Africa’s Council for Geosciences.
The epicentre of the mini-quake was located south-east of Randfontein, but those located as far as Lenasia felt the shakes.
While it wasn’t cause for concern, some on Twitter went into full apocalypse mode.
Others did what we would’ve done: whipped out those memes.
Of course, some just went back to sleep.
Another magnitude 3.7 tremor was recorded in South Africa on Friday, but it was centered well off the West Coast, east of Papendorp.
