According to The Next Web, the app had returned after more than a year’s absence in the wake of lawsuits from the major music labels. The labels had accused of it infringing on copyright by allowing people to share tracks regardless of whether or not they had license to do so.
The app had been up less than 48 hours before it went was taken down and is no longer available via its dedicated Google Play URL.
When the app went live a few days ago, Grooveshark said: “After working closely with Google to get rogue apps removed, we’re delighted that the official Grooveshark app has been reinstated. We look forward to continuing to build a relationship with Android and leverage this fantastic platform for our partners.
You can however still download the app directly from the Grooveshark site.
