Samsung Galaxy S3 delayed and rumour roundup. Caught on video?
Bummer. It doesn’t seem like the Galaxy S3 will be making its appearance later this month at MWC 2012 as rumoured.
Samsung told Techradar that there will be a separate launch for the S3 in the first half of this year:
Samsung is looking forward to introducing and demonstrating exciting new mobile products at Mobile World Congress 2012. The successor to the Galaxy S2 smartphone will be unveiled at a separate Samsung-hosted event in the first half of the year, closer to commercial availability of the product. Samsung stays committed to providing the best possible mobile experiences for customers around the world.
It’s disappointing news, so to lighten things up a bit, we decided to round up some of the more likely rumours about the S3 currently floating around the web. I personally can’t wait, it’s going to be epic.
Here we go.
- 1280×720 resolution, 4.6 inch OLED display. Some postulate that we might see one of Samsung’s flexible FOLED displays make an appearance, which could mean improved battery life and possibly, a progressive new form factor, but we’re not holding our breath. There are also rumours about a 3D display and a 1080p resolution, but we’re getting way into the weeds now.
- TouchWhiz layered on top of Ice Cream Sandwich.
- 12MP camera. We might see a larger 1/2.3-inch sensor as well.
- Quad-core 1.8GHz chip with 2GB RAM.
Finally, take a good look at this post’s main picture. It’s a still from an 11 minute Samsung promotional video, that rounds up the best bits of the company’s CES 2012 press conference. It shows an unidentified phone being used to remotely control a Samsung digital camera. Could it be the Samsung Galaxy S3?
Here’s the video.
