ZTE: Launching eight new phones at MWC, plots world domination
ZTE wants to be a top three manufacturer by 2015 and it’s launching eight new phones at MWC next week to kickstart its plan for world domination.
The Chinese manufacturer is coming out guns blazing, announcing in a press release today that its new range of Android and Windows Phone devices will boast high-end features such as LTE and quad-core processors.
The presser didn’t contain information about which phones will be introduced, but we have an idea of what to expect.
First, there’s GSM/LTE band PF200 running Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich which will feature a 1.5GHz processor, 4.3-inch qHD (960 x 540) display, MHL (mobile high-definition link), NFC, 8MP rear shooter and a front-facing camera that can record up to 1080p video.
There’s also the lower-end CDMA/LTE band N910 with a 1.2GHz processor, WVGA (800 x 480) display, 5MP rear camera and a front-facing camera that will support 1080p video recording. It will also ship with Ice Cream Sandwich.
The third phone we should be seeing soon is the mid-tier Mimosa X, a dual-core Tegra 2 smartphone with a 4.3-inch qHD display, 4GB of internal memory, 5MP camera and an Icera 450 HSPA+ modem.
We expect the mysterious quad-core model to run on Nvida’s next-gen Tegra 3 platform, but all will be revealed in just a few days. We can’t wait.
If you’re still doubting ZTE’s gutsy new swagger we leave you with this quote from Mr. He Shiyou, Executive Vice President and Head of the Terminals Division at ZTE:
There is no doubt that this year’s Mobile World Congress will again see some exciting device launches. The new devices from ZTE will demonstrate how ZTE is without doubt among an elite group of handset providers as next generation telecommunications networks roll out globally. ZTE returns at least ten percent of its revenues back into R&D to ensure that it sustains its position as a true market innovator — and we’re counting down to being able to showcase this to the world’s mobile industry next week.
