Ultra High Speed-1 MicroSD cards from Samsung play nice with LTE devices
There is one constant with technology. As CPU power grows, internal and external memory speed always have to play a game of catch-up. Samsung will buck this trend as it begins to offer Ultra High Speed-1 MicroSD Cards for LTE smartphones and tablets.
Wanhoon Hong, chief lord of memory sales and marketing for Samsung explains that the new UHS-1 memory cards will come out in a 16GB flavour, and offer a maximum read speed of 80MB per second. According to the press release, this is up to four times the speed of the maximum 21MB per second memory cards of today.
The only unanswered question, (besides the write speeds) is what type of mobile devices will the UHS-1 cards be compatible with? We’re putting our money on the Samsung Galaxy S III, due out some time this year. Further plans surely include a bump from 16GB to 32 and then 64. Makes sense in this world of increasingly memory hungry apps. Read the full press release to glean further info.
