Sidecar redefines phone calls on iPhone
Phone calls are old news, Sidecar is the new black. Want to make phone calls for free (US and Canada only) and use video, photo, location and contact sharing during the phone call? Sidecar lets you do all that. Damn fancy.
Sidecar launches today for iOS, but has been available on Android for weeks now.
The press release calls it a “fun, engaging, and expressive conversation,” and we have to agree, for once. Sidecar is a treat. We tested it on our iPhones and it worked, perfectly.
Outside the US though, without the benefit of the free phone calls, Sidecar works much like Skype, only with a slicker interface.
Sidecar calls its video “See What I See”. During a call, video can be shared. But from our tests, users are going to need a pretty decent connection for this to work alongside VoIP chat.
What does work though, and without much lag, is the location, contact and photo sharing. Touch one of the buttons during the call and boom, instant social media love.
Download Sidecar and test if for yourself. It’s a bitch to connect with your friends but once it’s up and running, it’s all good. View this dandy video for more information.
