Kickstarter-funded 1Q wooden Bluetooth speakers: class, audio in equal volumes
Plastic is out, and wood is in. These new speakers, named 1Q, are looking to enter the audiophile world with their powerful ‘natural’ sound.
It is just such a nice material to have around, wood. The texture is great, and for the most part, there is no better material for speakers to be housed in. These new speakers are looking at entry into the world via Kickstarter. Looks like they’re going to make it too, with a estimated US$10 000 needed, they are already past US$57 000 with over two weeks to go.
The 1Q is a 2-inch speaker putting out 6.5w and is housed in a 3-inch wooden cube. You get a choice of either bamboo or walnut, and there will be a red beech limited addition too. You can connect also two speakers together to make them stereo. They are Bluetooth operated, featuring Integrated Bluetooth v2.1, with a 30-foot control radius. There is also the option to use a 3.5mm headphone jack.
It is portable, with a claimed 10 hour battery life, which should be enough for a long day on the beach. It looks great too. The finish is clean and the grain on the walnut especially looks good. Without a price announced yet, it is hard to say whether it will be a winner. But if looks are anything to go by, these will sell like hotcakes.
