Microsoft Surface tentatively priced at $1000, will bleed wallets dry
When Microsoft unveiled its Surface tablet, the biggest question surrounding it was how it would be priced. A Swedish website has listed prices for the yet to be released tablet, and you’re not going to like it.
Swedish website Webhallen has listed the Surface on its site with a list price of 6990 kronor, which equates to about US$1003. This is for the 32GB version running Windows RT. The higher end product running Windows 8 and sporting 128GB is ridiculously priced. Are you ready? About US$2150.
Apple’s new Macbook Pro Retina display starts out at US$2199. Not to mention that the top of the line iPad goes for US$699, which is supposed to be the Surface’s direct competitor. If these happen to be the true prices for the Surface, then Microsoft is not really getting the whole competitive pricing thing at all.
