ThinkGeek’s Power-up offers a 90s arcade light switch
Normal light switches are so 2010. We’ve moved on from all those plain white up or down switches. Take this: the Power-up Arcade light switch.
It packs in all the arcade nostalgia into one rather hideous yet wantable item. It’s like that dog that begs at your door that looks like utter hell, but is so ugly that it’s cute. They would both make the same sounds too: “Pew” and “Pow”! Close enough anyway.
As the video shows, the Power-up can be fitted onto any normal light switch plate, making it super easy to install. A couple of screws and you’re ready. The joy stick is the switch, up for on and down for off, easy as that. It moves back into the neutral position afterwards, though, which could be annoying. The buttons do, well, nothing. In fact they do less than nothing. Those buttons are what make the Pew-Pow sounds, so within five seconds you are going to want to kill your irritating friend who won’t stop pressing them. Better yet, if you’re still five years old and need a night-light, look no further. Yours for US$30.
