Huawei to launch the 4.7-inch Ascend P2 [MWC]
Mobile World Congress 2013 is turning into a hotbed of geeky phone porn and one of the most lustful devices to emerge so far is Huawei’s Ascend P2, a 4.7-inch phablet (we’re sorry for using that terminology) with legs that stretch beyond the keen of mortals.
What do we get with a 4.7-inch screen? Try a 1280×720 display with a screamer of a CPU, 1.5 GHz K3V2 quad-core processor, which Huawei assures us is the “fastest on the market”. There’s also a mind-blowing 13-megapixel camera, 1GB RAM, a 2420mAh battery and NFC, all packed into a 8.4mm thin frame.
Jellybean Android 4.1 will run the Ascend P2. But it’s not Android as we know it. Huawei is calling it the “Emotion UI” which sounds both absurd and enticing simultaneously.
When will the Huawei Ascend P2 rocket into our pockets? Q2 2013 says the mobile phone maker and at a price of ±US$530, we’re looking at a serious contender for the phablet crown. For now though, it’s a US only release. But expect a worldwide launch, soon.
