Amazon’s future smartphone could have 3D displays
Using retina-tracking technology, ecommerce giant Amazon is rumoured to feature 3D display with its up and coming smartphone. Without the need to wear 3D glasses like you would at some theaters, images would appear to be floating above the screen and look “like a hologram and appear three-dimensional at all angles” reported the Wall Street Journal.
According to people who are familiar with Amazon’s plans, the 3D display technology is part of a number of innovative experimental projects knows as the Alphabet Projects at Amazon’s Lab126. The same lab is responsible for other exciting innovative products by Amazon. Similar to Samsung’s eye tracking technology, you would be able to navigate using only the movement of your eyes.
Remember back in the day when Amazon brought out its first e-book reader and were battling it out with the likes of Barnes & Noble. And then after the release of its Kindle Fire tablet series started, the once ecommerce focused giant found itself competing with the likes of Apple and Google. Instead of purely being shopping or entertainment focused, Amazon has entered the fast-paced market where all things tech have become so competitive. A market where consumers are constantly waiting for the next big thing.
The Kindle Fire series was mainly promoted as a consumption device, coupling it to Amazon’s premium service namely Amazon Prime. Offering books, music, movies and apps the e-commerce giant competed popular platforms like Netflix and other content streaming services. Speculators have made hype around the expected TV set-top box that would invade your living room and compete with similar products like the Apple TV.
All of Amazon’s products have been focused around the idea of getting people to buy stuff from its online store. By collecting data from users’ activity through their devices, the store recommendations system has been one of the best engines in the world. With this cutting-edge product, Amazon might have enough honey to charm gadget fans away from its competitors.
