Call of Duty: Ghosts ‘Extinction’ trailer reveals 4 player co-op
Call of Duty: Ghosts is coming our way 5 November to Xbox 360, PS3, Wii U and PC. We have already seen some teasers revealing to us underwater levels and Riley the dog, though no one really expected to see purple and pink aliens in a new co-op mode namely Extinction.
The trailer kicks off with the Ghosts‘ smokey skull symbol turning into a creepy alien one. Ubisoft describes the new mode as follows: Extinction mode is a new 1-4 player cooperative game mode featuring a mixture of “fast-paced survival action, FPS base defense, scavenging and class leveling.” In other words, COD‘s famous Zombie Survival mode sans the zombies.
If zombies weren’t enough, in Extinction there are alien spores and zergling-like creatures being blown up. The aliens scrambling over fences and buildings look impressive and could probably work as a standalone title. Maybe it should.
As many Youtube users have been pointing out, the overall graphics are a bit average. After releasing the zombie mode and now an alien one, the originality of COD becomes less defined. Is this a slippery slope for Infinity Ward or adventurous experimentation?
