Mark your calendars: the next Apple iPad event is… 22 October
In under two weeks, on 22 October, Apple will reveal a new iPad, according to AllThingsD. It’ll be the usual invite-only affair and according to “people familiar with Apple’s plans”, not only will the fifth-gen iPad feature, but OS X Mavericks, a new iPad Mini and Mac Pros will also make appearances.
Current Editorials also predicts that a second round of Apple product launches will take place in October, as the company looks to offer iPads with both higher resolutions and possibly, fingerprint readers as seen on the iPhone 5S.
The new iPad should be the chief focus of the launch. It’ll have the A7X CPU, will possibly have TouchID but will most definitely be as thin and as light as the iPad Mini, according to the reports. The screen will still be the Apple-certified 9.7″ display.
Apple’s refreshed iPad Mini will get the A6 CPU and, if it’s been a good boy this year, Retina Display as well. Current Editorials report says that while Apple may be testing the Retina Display iPad Mini, battery life is still an issue. Is it worth having a better screen if the battery drains in seconds? Computer says “no”. The report points to an early November launch.
Finally, the new Mac Pros are expected to rock the Haswell CPUs, new processors that require little to no cooling and not only perform faster, but overheat less frequently. Everyone (like Toshiba, HP and Acer) has jumped onto the Haswell CPU bandwagon and trust Apple to only dive in once the waters have been thoroughly tested. If and when the new Mac Pros make an appearance, the report says that a December launch is most likely.
So mark those calendars. Apple’s launch is 22 October and now all we have to do is wait for the official invite to appear.
