Microsoft’s ‘Invitation’ ad actually makes us excited for Xbox One
We’re being deadly serious too. We know it’s easy to insult the Xbox One for its myriad failures and successive about-faces (and this) but then an ad like this comes along and changes the minds of even the most doubting fanboys and girls.
Microsoft’s new ad for the Xbox One, simply called “Invitation” as it’s listed on the YouTube channel, shows us the social gaming side of the Xbox One. More so, it shows the world that the Xbox One is more than a fancy game machine with hardcore hardware specifications. It’s also the most social console under the sun, according to the ad of course.
What we see is millions and million of dollars at work here. Snippets of the Xbox One’s biggest launch titles like Titanfall, Ryse and Forza Motorsport 5 are on display, and each title invites us into the game, literally. Car doors open, begging us to ride inside. Roman soldiers march into the distance inside a bustling city, pulling us into their army. And most excitingly, a mech from Titanfall opens its pod wide as it prepares to receive a human player.
But like we said, the ad isn’t games focused. We also get to see how Skype works alongside Xbox One as one user is pulled out of the game and starts chatting to his friend as a football match plays in a smaller window. It looks very seamless and best of all, fun to use.
Matter of fact, everything we just wrote can be summed up by this YouTube user’s comment:
“I am PS4 Guy. BUT THAT IS ONE FUCKING AWESOME COMMERCIAL :D”
Indeed.
