Sony launches flexible, lightweight VAIO Flip 11A hybrid PC
Sony recently introduced the VAIO Flip 11A, a smaller lightweight hybrid PC. This adds to the existing Flip PC lineup of 13″, 14″ and 15″ flexible sizes. The Flip 11A is now available in the US and is hopefully making its way to Europe and other parts of the world in the coming months.
Recognized by Lenovo’s Yoga-like design, when in laptop mode the 11.6″ Flip features a backlit keyboard and a touchpad. Given its “lightweight, innovative design”, you flip the keyboard to the back to convert it into tablet mode. Sony also added its Active Pen which is accompanied by the VAIO Paper drawing and writing app that’s meant to be your digital notebook.
The Flip 11A has a 1080p touch display and will be shipped with Windows 8.1 64-bit pre-installed. It has 4GB RAM under the hood together with a pretty decent 128GB SSD and Intel’s 2.16GHz Pentium N3520 CPU. Furthermore, it has HDMI, USB 3.0 and NFC support.
It will also be shipped with the new VAIO Inspiration SuiteAdobe’s that includes goodies such as Adobe’s latest Photoshop Elements 12 and ArtRage Studio pre-installed. Other software features are VAIO Scan which is meant to let you capture quality copies of letters and business cards using the rear-facing camera. Another feature is VAIO Clip which lets you create expertly cut-out images from the web for dropping into documents and presentations.
