CES 2016: Huawei Honor 5X heading to US, reports suggest

It’s been a long time coming, but Chinese smartphone manufacturer Huawei will finally being its Honor brand to United States’ soil in 2016.

The premium brand, largely pegged to Asian markets, will host a press event at Las Vegas’ CES 2016 (the Consumer Electronics Show), where many other manufacturers will also show off its wares.

9To5Google has also suggested, thanks to “one source familiar with the company’s plans” that the Huawei Honor 5X will be the first device unveiled.

 

The phone itself is a mid-ranger, featuring a 5.5-inch screen running 1920×1080 pixels, features a Qualcomm Snapdragon 616 chipset and up to 3GB or RAM. There’s 16GB of internal storage, and a microSD expansion card slot for more if need be. On the imaging front, there’s a 13MP snapper at the rear, and a 5MP selfie camera. The phone also boasts a fingerprint reader.

Huawei has also leaked a few images of the upcoming Honor 7i, which features a 180-degree swiveling rear camera.

George Zhao, President of Honor Global has promised that more information regarding the US market entrance will be made at the company’s CES 2016 event. As for that event, it will take place on 5 January 2016.
