Euro retailer ‘reveals’ Huawei P9 Lite before announcement [pics]
We’re used to seeing smartphone leaks coming from tech websites and insider sources, but retailer leaks are rather rare.
Well, a Romanian online store has put the Huawei P9 Lite up for sale before its official reveal, complete with images and tech specifications.
The specs, while not confirmed, are certainly in line with expectations…
The retailer reports a mid-range HiSilicon 650 processor (an octacore chip with A53 cores clocked at 2GHz), USB Type C, 2GB of RAM and 16GB of expandable storage. As for the screen tech, the store lists a 5.2-inch full HD display.
The main camera hasn’t received a resolution bump (still at 13-megapixels), but we do see a front-facing camera upgrade from 5MP to 8MP.
Another notable upgrade appears to have taken place in the battery department, which sees a move from 2200mAh on the P8 Lite to a solid 3000mAh on the new handset.
Huawei is also well-known for its fast, accurate fingerprint scanners, with the P9 Lite sporting one on the back, according to photos.
As for pricing, the phone had a 1209 Lei price tag, which equates to R4457 as a straight conversion.
It wouldn’t be the first time we’ve heard of the P8 Lite’s successor though, as Huawei South Africa has confirmed the phone’s existence before.
In fact, a representative for Huawei South Africa told Gearburn that the P9 Lite would be launching locally in June, in line with the P9’s launch window.
