Nintendo’s new Zelda game is called ‘Breath of the Wild’ [first look]
Kicking off an E3 conference with the biggest game on the roster isn’t something we see too often from companies, but that’s Nintendo for you.
Today, at its live E3 Treehouse event, the company showcased the latest Legend Of Zelda adventure entitled Breath of the Wild.
Eiji Aonuma, the game’s chief designer, explained that Nintendo wanted to do something markedly different this time around with Zelda, “breaking the conventions,” which includes a totally different animation style and gameplay.
Like its seriously apt name, the game is dense with a focus on landscape, natural beauty and of course, puzzles. It does seem to be an RPG/adventure game though, with the emphasis on the latter. The story arc of the new Zelda game is still an unknown.
Freedom of motion — at least in comparison to previous games — is vastly improved, with Link gaining gliding abilities. We imagine crafting could also play a role in the gameplay, but that’s simply speculation at this point.
The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild will launch on both the Nintendo Wii U and Nintendo NX in 2017.
