Moto Z Play announced, Hasselblad camera mod steals show

We saw Lenovo-owned Motorola announce several new devices in the Moto smartphone range earlier this year, but it’s time to add another device to the list.
The company used IFA 2016 to announce the Moto Z Play, being positioned as an endurance king of note.
This is made possible by the 3500mAh battery powering the device. In other words, it’s not the biggest battery in a smartphone, but still stands out from the pack. However, it’s the budget-minded Snapdragon 625 processor that helps the phone go the distance, featuring eight power-sipping A53 cores.
Motorola claims that the phone will last for 50 hours of “mixed” usage, while TurboPower fast charging gives nine hours of power from 15 minutes of charging.
Otherwise, you’ve got a 5.5-inch full HD display, front-mounted fingerprint scanner, 3GB of RAM, USB Type-C connector and 32GB of expandable storage.
The Moto Z Play also has an optional Hasselblad camera add-on
In the photography department you’ve got a 16MP f/2.0 main camera with laser autofocus and 1.3 micron pixel size. Look at the front and you’ll find a 5MP f/2.2 selfie shooter.
Want a better camera experience? Motorola has also revealed a new Moto Mod accessory in conjunction with camera company Hassleblad, dubbed the Hasselblad True Zoom.
The True Zoom, which snaps onto the back of your Moto Z, features a 12MP 1/2.3″ sensor with a variable aperture and 1.55 micron pixel size. If that’s not enough, the accessory also tacks on 10x optical zoom, xenon flash, RAW support and optical image stabilisation.
The Hasselblad True Zoom will set you back US$299 and the Moto Z Play has a prepaid price of US$450.
