Samsung to rival Xiaomi Mi Mix with Galaxy S8?
Samsung has confirmed that the Galaxy S8 is coming (what were you expecting?), but it looks as though the company could be taking inspiration from Xiaomi and the Mi Mix phone.
According to the Korea Herald, the next flagship could have a screen/body ratio of just over 90%, thanks to an edge-to-edge display.
The publication spoke to a Samsung Display researcher, who stopped short of saying the Galaxy S8 would play host to the technology.
A drastic (and reliable) design might be enough for the Samsung Galaxy S8 or similar flagship to emerge from the Note 7 disaster
“Samsung Display would roll out a full-screen display whose display area ratio reaches more than 90 percent next year,” Park Won-sang told the Korea Herald.
By comparison, Xiaomi’s newly revealed Mi Mix has a claimed screen/body ratio of just over 91%, making for an extremely unique design.
The researcher told the Korea Herald that future designs could see phones with an astounding screen/body ratio of 99%.
The Samsung representative showed a concept image to the publication as well, revealing a Galaxy S7 Edge with no home button and an edge-to-edge display.
