Xiaomi Mi 6 to pack Xperia XZ Premium camera?
The Xiaomi Mi 5 (review) was one of our favourite smartphones of 2016, packing a powerful chipset and more into a phone that had a price tag below all other flagships. But what could the Xiaomi Mi 6 have in store for us?
A report from prolific website My Drivers (Google Translate) has revealed a few supposed details around the upcoming smartphone, starting with the presence of the Snapdragon 835 processor.
The publication says that, unlike the Xiaomi Mi 5, the Mi 6 will stick to the highest-clocked Snapdragon chip across the board. Last year, the Mi 5 was divided into three variants, with the cheapest models using lower-clocked versions of the Snapdragon 820.
Another claimed detail is that Xiaomi will be using a 5.2-inch LCD screen for the new handset, as well as a ceramic body design for higher end models.
The Xiaomi Mi 6 might pack a very capable camera sensor and the Snapdragon 835, according to a new report
In the camera department, My Drivers is claiming that the Xiaomi Mi 6 will be equipped with the same camera sensor as Sony’s Xperia XZ Premium. It added that the sensor is capable of shooting at 960fps, but there’s no word on whether this feature is actually coming to the Mi 6.
Finally, what about pricing and availability? The publication says that the Xiaomi Mi 6 will be coming on 16 April, starting at RMB1999 (R3757 as a straight conversion) for the 4GB RAM/32GB storage model. The 6GB RAM/128GB storage variant purportedly comes with a ceramic design, but will have a price tag of over RMB2500 (R4700).
We’ll need to wait a few weeks to figure out whether this is indeed the truth. But one thing is for sure: if those prices are indeed correct, we can expect to pay way more than the currency conversion suggests.
