Watch: HTC officially teases phone with squeeze gestures
We’ve heard leaks claiming that HTC’s next smartphone will feature squeezable edges. Now, HTC has teased just this on its YouTube channel.
The teaser video shows a variety of objects being squeezed, along with the company claiming that squeezing is “natural”.
“Squeeze the Brilliant U,” reads another caption, followed by a “save the date” for 16 May 2017 (7am London time, 8am SAST).
Of course, previous leaks have pegged the so-called HTC U as having a squeezable frame (dubbed “Edge Sensors”), allowing users to conduct short and long squeezes.
These squeezes could be used to toggle functions like WiFi and Bluetooth, or to activate specific apps.
The leak also claims that this new phone won’t have a 3.5mm headphone jack. Because reasons. You know what else it’s unlikely to have? A South African launch date.
