Huawei launched the P10 Lite and 2017 version of the P8 Lite last week, being released in the same week as the P10 and P10 Plus.
At the time of the launch, we only got contract prices for the budget phones, coming in at R199 per month for the new P8 Lite and R299 a month for the P10 Lite.
Now, in response to a Gearburn query, a Huawei representative has confirmed prepaid pricing for the new mid-range handsets.
Expect the P8 Lite 2017 to have a recommended retail price (RRP) of R3799, while the P10 Lite packs an RRP of R5299.
The new P8 Lite packs a Kirin 655 octacore chipset (A53 cores), a 5.2-inch full HD screen, 3GB RAM and 16GB of expandable storage via a hybrid SIM slot. Other features include a 3000mAh battery, older microUSB port instead of USB Type C, a rear-mounted fingerprint scanner, 12MP main camera and 8MP selfie shooter.
