A quad-camera smartphone is coming via Oukitel
Chinese manufacturer Oukitel has earned a reputation for its budget-minded smartphones, with its K series featuring massive batteries, while the U6 delivered an e-ink display on the back.
Now, the Oukitel U22 has been announced, packing two cameras on the back and two cameras on the front for a quad-camera arrangement.
According to the upstart brand, you’re looking at a 13MP and 2MP combination on the back and an 8MP+2MP pairing on the front for selfies. It’s unclear how these cameras will be used, but Oukitel says you can expect an “SLR experience both for shooting and selfies”.
Our guess? Depth-of-field tricks and 3D photos.

As for other specs, Oukitel’s lone render shows what appears to be a front-facing flash, a rear-mounted fingerprint scanner and a metallic frame around the edges. But the company hasn’t revealed anything else about the handset.
Want this phone in South Africa? Well, you’re probably going to have to give the likes of Gearbest a try. In saying so, several Oukitel K-series smartphones used to be available via Takealot, but the Oukitel South Africa social media pages have been silent since February.
