Xiaomi’s next product? A laser projector
Xiaomi is well known for selling more than just smartphones and tablets. We’ve had rice cookers, Segway-style scooters, streaming boxes and even smart vases.
Now, the company has revealed its next product, being a laser projector for home use.
Yep, the Mi Laser Projector comes in at RMB9999 (just over R19 000 as a straight conversion sans taxes etc), delivering four “high power” speakers, 5000 lumen source brightness and “light peak optoelectronic” technology.

The gadget also projects to a 150 inch screen, while Xiaomi claims a laser lifespan of 25 000 hours (two hours a day for 34 years, the firm says).
As for other specs, you’ve got WiFi, voice recognition and Xiaomi’s Mi TV service for streaming content.
