F1 2017: here are all the classic cars that will appear
The last time we saw classic cars in a Formula One game was F1 2013 on previous generation consoles. So we’re glad to see F1 2017 bringing some of these iconic cars back into the fold. And the final batch of retro cars have been revealed by Codemasters.
This week saw Codemasters reveal that four McLaren F1 cars would be in F1 2017, in the form of the 1988 McLaren MP4/4, the 1991 MP4/6, the 1998 MP4/13 and 2008’s MP4/23.
The MP4/4 was arguably the most dominant F1 car of all time, winning 15 out of 16 races and giving Ayrton Senna his first world title. The MP4/6 was another competitive ride and played host to Senna’s last world title. The MP4/13, designed by Adrian Newey, started out as a beast, eventually taking Mika Hakkinen to his first driver’s title. Of course, the most recent McLaren, the 2008 MP4/23, saw Lewis Hamilton win his first of three world titles.
These cars join a host of other classic cars on the grid, namely the 1992 Williams FW14B, 1995 Ferrari 412 T2, 1996 Williams FW18, 2002 Ferrari F2002, 2004 Ferrari F2004, 2006 Renault R26, 2007 Ferrari F2007 and the 2010 Red Bull RB6.
Unfortunately, you’ll need to preorder or buy the day one edition of the game to get the MP4/4, although it will also be made available to purchase at a later date.
F1 2017 is set for release on 25 August 2017.
