Android O to be called Oreo? Leaks say yes
It’s about time for Google to give a proper, confectionary-themed name to its Android O update, isn’t it? The company will be holding an event later today, but the name has already surfaced: Android Oreo.
Yep, according to a Google leak via Android Police and serial tipster Evan Blass, Google will be taking the KitKat route by teaming up with a real brand.
The news first came via Blass on Twitter, calling it an “iterative” upgrade.

This was then followed up more definitively perhaps by Android Police, spotting the file name for the teaser video uploaded to Google+.
“Based on the filename for a video Google recently posted via Google+ (GoogleOreo_Teaser_0817_noDroids (1).mp4), odds are high the next release of Android will be given the name Oreo,” the publication wrote, before Google deleted the post.
Of course, things could change, but right now, it’s looking like the Mountain View company has made up their mind.
