The LG G6 (review) was one of the better looking smartphones in the past year or so, delivering a pleasant design that could take a tumble. Now, the company is readying the LG V30 for launch at the end of the month, and we’ve seen one feature revealed already.

“The next flagship smartphone from LG Electronics will be the first ever device to feature a plastic OLED FullVision display…” the South Korean brand wrote on its website, adding that it would be the company’s first OLED-equipped flagship since the G Flex 2 in 2015.

And it looks like the FullVision display maintains the high screen/body ratio of the G6.

“At six inches, the OLED FullVision display will be LG’s largest in four years while the actual body will be smaller than last year’s LG V20,” the firm explains. “As the upper and lower bezels have been reduced by 20 and 50 percent when compared to the V20, the LG logo has been moved from the bottom of the display to the back of the phone to maximise viewable screen space.”

The LG V30 is set to receive an OLED screen — the first LG flagship with the tech since the G-Flex 2

In terms of general specs, you’re looking at a 2880×1440 resolution, HDR10 support, 148% of the sRGB colour space and 109% of the DCI-P3 colour space.

LG is also dropping hints that the V30’s screen might be curved…

“…because the screen in the upcoming smartphone will be based on plastic OLED technology — also known as P-OLED — the edges can be curved to allow for a more ergonomic design and a better feel in the hand. P-OLED is created by placing pixels on a plastic substrate which is much stronger than a glass base.”

We’ll know more about the V30 on 31 August, unless Evan Blass decides to reveal all.

LG’s move comes as it steps up production of mobile OLED screens, being a field currently dominated by Samsung. Reports earlier this year have pegged both Apple and Google as signing deals to produce OLED screens for their smartphones.
