Mi Mix: Leagoo is latest Chinese brand to copy another Chinese brand
Xiaomi’s Mi Mix is one of the most innovative smartphones in the past two years, popularising the current wave of high screen/body ratios, for starters.
The phone also packs a piezoelectric system for conducting sound (instead of a traditional earpiece for calls), making it stand out even more.
The Mi Mix’s design caught the attention of numerous Chinese brands earlier this year, with the likes of Bluboo, Doogee and UMI all unabashedly cloning the innovative smartphone.
Now, we can add Leagoo to the mix, launching its KIICAA Mix smartphone, as spotted by Gizmochina. Most of the specs are still up in the air, but the brand did take to Facebook to reveal that they’re packing a Sharp 5.5-inch full HD screen and a 13MP+2MP dual camera setup.
On Leagoo’s actual website, they’re allowing fans to vote on the phone’s configuration and pricing.
The lowest end option packs an unspecified quad-core chip (presumably A53 cores), 2GB of RAM and 16GB of storage for US$89.99. The middle variant includes an octacore chip (no details here), 3GB of RAM and 32GB of storage for US$139.99. At the top-end we have an octacore chip (no details once again), 6GB of RAM and 128GB of storage for US$179.99.
The actual design is certainly a rip-off of Xiaomi, even featuring the same selfie camera location as the Mi Mix.
Leagoo’s phone is expected to launch later this month.
