Android users generally have to wait a while to get the latest update, with Samsung being no exception. Fortunately, it seems like the firm has given the green light for Android Oreo on the Galaxy S8 (review) and S8+.
According to SamMobile, the update is currently hitting users in Germany, first targeting beta testers before delivery to everyone else. The publication adds that availability comes two weeks after beta testing ended.
So what’s new then? The Korean firm recently showed off an infographic to beta testers, highlighting the Samsung-specific additions and tweaks. We have a customisable keyboard toolbar (the area just above the keyboard, allowing you to add shortcuts to the clipboard and more), four new high-contrast keyboards, new emojis/GIFs/stickers, a card-based system for phone searches (allowing you to activate core features without opening an app), the ability to change the background colour of your screen, dual account support for apps (such as messaging apps), more supported resolutions for DeX and a host of other features.
Aside from Samsung’s features, Oreo is also supposed to bring a few more neat features, such as autofill support for apps, notification dots and notification snoozing. But there’s no word if these features are actually in the Samsung update.
