The new 9.7-inch iPad geared towards education will retail from R4999 in South Africa, the iStore confirmed to Gearburn.
Marketed towards schools and students, the 9.7-inch iPad is a notable refresh from the outgoing model, sporting Apple Pencil support, the A10 Fusion chipset, and a host of education-orientated apps.
The iStore is offering the device in three colours, namely silver, space grey and gold, and two storage options: 32GB and 128GB. Additionally, users can also opt for WiFi only and LTE and WiFi options.

The most expensive version of the tablet, sporting LTE, WiFi and 128GB storage will retail for R7499.
Consumers can also add the Apple Pencil to the bundle for R999. It still retails separately for R1999.
We’ve reached out to the iStore to confirm if the education discount — available in the United States — also applies to South Africa. We’ll update this article once we receive a reply.
