China’s Nokia X6 is official, but it could still come to South Africa
The first Nokia with a notch is now official. The Finnish company on Thursday announced the Nokia X6’s existence in China. For now, it remains a Chinese exclusive.
The phone boasts a top notch, a 19:9 5.8-inch 2280×1080 screen, and a big focus on camera performance.
At the tear, there’s a dual camera combo: one 16MP sensor hiding behind a f/2.0 lens, and a smaller 5MP monochrome camera with a f/2.2 lens. Up front, there’s another 16MP f/2.0 camera for more detailed selfies.
Internally, the phone will use Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 636 chipset, run up to 6GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage. There’s also a microSD card slot, a 3.5mm headphone jack and USB Type-C.
While the phone will retail for a smidgen over US$200 in China, the company is contemplating launching the device internationally.
“Getting a lot of traffic on this so let’s ask around. Should we bring Nokia X6 to other markets too?” asked HMD Global’s CPO Juho Sarvikas.
