Apple’s working on its own game streaming service, report suggests
If you feel like the term “Netflix for games” is already overused barely a month into 2019, you’re not alone. According to a report by Cheddar, Apple is planning its very own version of a subscription based game-streaming platform.
Sources reportedly told the publication that the fairly new project may involve partnerships with developers, to help Apple broaden its horizons in the gaming industry.
The expected launch of such a service, its cost or the types of games users will have access to, is still largely unknown. The report does note that Apple could be planning to make App Store games available via subscription instead.
Whether the company is planning to monetize a subscription for games on its current App Store, or create a whole new streaming service for games, its clear that a “Netflix for games” race is on among tech giants.
