Update: Cellucity on Thursday confirmed in an email that the Huawei Nova 5T will be priced at R11 999, wedging it between the P30 Lite and the P30 proper.
As mentioned in the original article, it looks like it’s competing against the LG G8S ThinQ and Samsung Galaxy A80 in South Africa, too.

Original article: We detailed the Huawei Nova 5T in considerable detail in September, a phone that has previously launched in the Philippines and Malaysia.
This week, Huawei confirmed that the phone will be heading to South Africa in November.
If you want a blow-by-blow of this device’s specs, we suggest you read our older piece, but for now, what you should know is that this device will run on Android.
Huawei had promised South Africans in late August that at least two of its smartphones will run Android, will be Google certified, and therefore include Google Services.
It singled out the Huawei Y9 S — a device that remains a mystery — and the Nova 5T.
The Nova 5T is intriguing enough.
It has five cameras in total, is powered by the Kirin 980 chipset, boasts 8GB of RAM and features 128GB of internal storage.
It’s quite a prospect on paper, and with those specifications, will probably compete against Samsung’s more premium Galaxy A devices and Huawei’s outgoing flagship devices.
And considering that the Huawei Mate 30 may not make it here any time soon, the Nova 5T is taking up the mantle as the company’s year-end flagship.
How much will the Huawei Nova 5T cost in South Africa?
We’ve yet to receive a recommended retail price for the Nova 5T from Huawei South Africa, but have asked the company for clarification and will update this article once we receive that info.
We also reached out to local retailer Cellucity for its pricing details. The company told us a Vodacom contract will be R599 per month.
That price puts it squarely against the Samsung Galaxy A80, LG’s G8S ThinQ, and the Huawei P30.
The phone will be available to purchase from 1 November.
