HMD Global’s premium Nokia 7.2 arrives in South Africa for R6299

Nokia’s owner HMD Global hasn’t released an upper-mid range phone in South Africa in ages, but thankfully that changes today.

This comes courtesy of the Nokia 7.2, a phone that’s we’ll be referring to as a more premium Nokia device, at least when viewed alongside some other Nokia devices launched of late.

Up front, the phone sports a 6.3-inch IPS LCD with 2280×1080 resolution. It’s coated in Gorilla Glass 3, so should survive a pocket trip to the shop alongside your keys.

Internally, a Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 can be found mated to a maximum of 6GB of RAM, and 128GB of internal storage.

For optics, the Nokia 7.2 makes use of a 20MP selfie camera mounted in a notch, while at the rear, three sensors can be found. The primary snapper uses a 48MP sensor with f/1.8 lens and phase-detection autofocus. It also has an ultrawide 8MP camera and a 5MP depth sensor.

Below the Lumia-like circular camera is a fingerprint sensor, and on the phone’s bottom sits a 3.5mm headphone jack.

Powering it all is a 3500mAh battery with 10w charging, Bluetooth 5.0 LE with aptX support, NFC, and an FM Radio. There’s also a USB-C connector.

How much will I pay for the Nokia 7.2 in South Africa?

The Nokia 7.2 will be available in South Africa from 20 November through Vodacom and will be offered in Charcoal only, 4GB of RAM, 64GB of internal storage, and single SIM support. It’ll retail for R6299.

Takealot will also offer customers a dual SIM model, with 6GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage, but no price has been set just yet.
