Shopping for tech can be a nightmare in South Africa, but thankfully products go on sale regularly. The real challenge is finding those deals.

In this weekly series we call Tech Deals of the Week, Gearburn trawls the South African online shopping space to find the best value offerings, from DDR4 for your gaming computer to true wireless earbuds for your daily commute.

Here are the hottest sale items of the week ending 12 January 2020.

Samsung Galaxy A30s 128GB smartphone – R4399 at Takealot (12% off)

The updated version of the A30 now includes a 6.4-inch screen with 1560×720 resolution, 4GB of RAM, 128GB of internal storage, and dual SIM support.

It also has a 4000mAh battery, and three cameras at the rear highlighted by a 25MP primary snapper.

It comes with a two-year manufacturer warranty.

Hikvision T100-NI 240GB portable SSD drive – R959 at Takealot (26% off)

If you need fast portable storage, forget using a flash drive and pick up a portable SSD instead.

This Hikvision model is rated for 450MB/s reads and 400MB/s writes, which means a 2GB video file should copy in under five seconds.

It connects via USB-C and weighs in at just 170 grams, making it perfect for travel too.

It comes with a three-year limited warranty.

Hisense N70B7100 70-inch HDR 4K TV – R12 999 at Loot (28% off)

It’s not too late to pick up a TV on the cheap, and this massive 70-incher by Hisense is a prime example.

It features a resolution of 3840×2160, supports HDR 10 and HLG, and has smart TV capabilities which allows you to stream from the likes of Netflix without an Android TV box.

This display also features three HDMI ports, two USB ports and one Ethernet jack, and comes with a three-year limited warranty.

Oh, and do note, you’ll need a pretty big cabinet for this TV. The package dimensions are 1.7 metres in length and just over a metre in height too.

Hisense N32N50HTS 32-inch TV – R1999 at Loot (23% off)

If you’re looking for something much smaller and much cheaper, this other Hisense model could be the ticket.

It has a resolution of 1366×768 — so not quite Full HD — features two HDMI ports, one USB port for playing media on storage devices, and support for RF too.

Loot does not list this unit’s warranty information.
