PlayStation Plus prices will decrease in South Africa from May 2020
Good news for PlayStation Plus subscribers in South Africa. The price of annual and three-month PlayStation Plus plans will decrease from 1 May 2020.
The news comes courtesy of a support email to Memeburn from Sony PlayStation.
“Starting from 1 May 2020, prices for PlayStation Plus subscriptions in South Africa will be changing due to market conditions,” read the email.
PlayStation Plus is Sony’s online membership tier that allows users to compete in multiplayer games that require the service and receive free titles on a monthly basis.
New PlayStation Plus pricing in South Africa
For those on an annual payment plan, prices will decrease by 16.6% from R899 to R749 from 1 May 2020.
The three-month recurring plan price will also decrease to R319 from R349. That’s a drop of 8.6%.
However, those on a month-to-month recurring plan will see the price increase by R10 to R119.
Sony PlayStation notes that the new pricing scheme goes into effect at 11.59am SAST on 1 May 2020. Users can also purchase plans at their current prices to “stack” them until the end of April. We’re not sure why anyone would really want to do that, though.
The price drop is a generous move from the Japanese gaming firm, which also gave gamers an additional 90GB worth of cloud saves for free back in January 2019.
Other markets across the globe are also seeing the membership price drop in the coming months, including India, and according to a user on Reddit, Russia too.
