Itch.io launches huge indie games bundle to raise money for #BlackLivesMatter
Indie games marketplace Itch.io has launched a massive pay-what-you-want bundle to raise money for racial justice and equality.
The bundle, which includes 1000 games and projects valued at over $5000, lets users pay what they want (with a minimum payment of $5) for DRM-free access to the indie games. All proceeds from the sale of the bundle will go to the NAACP Legal Defense and Educational Fund and Community Bail Fund which are helping to support the Black Lives Matter protests.
The goal is to raise $5-million, with over $2.5-million raised so far at the time of writing. Over 250 000 people have contributed to the bundle so far, with the largest payment for the bundle being $5000.
While many games included in the bundle are niche and lesser-known indies, some notable and popular titles are also included in the mix.
A few noteworthy additions to the bundle include:
- Night in the Woods
- Wheels of Aurelia
- Semblance (by South African game development studio Nyamakop)
- Headliner: NoviNews
- Heavy Bullets
- Oxenfree
