MatePad T8: Huawei launches budget tablet for kids
For parents looking for an affordable tablet for children, Huawei has launched the MatePad T8 – a tablet for kids with built-in safety tools.
According to the company, the tablet is durable, light, and powerful — making it an ideal device for children.
It features a curved design, an octa-core processor, and a 5100mAh battery.
In terms of software, the MatePad T8 has Kids Corner to help parents balance the digital wellbeing of their children. This includes the ability to limit screen time.
“Kids Corner is a virtual playground that children can explore without adult supervision,” Huawei said in a statement.
“The platform not only aims to create an exclusive learning and entertainment space for children, but also ensures that parents can easily monitor their child’s tablet usage — without having to hover over them 24/7.”
Parents can adjust settings in Kids Corner with four control modules: eye protection, time management, app management, and content management.
This allows you to limit how much time a child can spend using the device per day. You can also set which apps they can use at different times of the day.
For example, you can limit video app usage to daytime hours if you’re worried about blue light disturbing your child’s sleep schedule.
Kids Corner also includes posture alerts, an eBook mode, and a blue light filter.
