Cyberpunk 2077: Everything you need to know
Can you feel it, that snowballing sense of excitement burning in your chest? That’s right, we’re mere weeks away from the highly anticipated release of Cyberpunk 2077 (please, no more delays), the latest title to come from CD Projekt RED, the creators of the revered The Witcher 3. Either that or you should go see a doctor right away!
As the release date draws near, many of us still have questions about the anticipated title.
When exactly is this seemingly elusive release date? And what is all this talk about multiplayer?
Well, not to worry. We’ve got you covered!
So, without further ado, here are all the noteworthy deets we’ve gathered on Cyberpunk 2077…
What is Cyberpunk 2077 about?
Cyberpunk 2077 is an open-world, first-person RPG set in the neon-drenched megalopolis of Night City — a place obsessed with power, glamour, and body modification.
Players will take on the role of “V”, a mercenary outlaw on the hunt for a one-of-a-kind implant that is the key to immortality.
You can customize your character’s cyberware, skillset, and playstyle, while exploring a vast city where the choices you make shape the story and the world around you.
Cyberpunk 2077 release date: When does the game launch?
Currently, the release date for Cyberpunk 2077 is tentatively set for 10 December 2020.
I say tentatively as the release date for upcoming RPG has been delayed multiple times over the last year. Fingers crossed, this time around the release date is final.
I’m sure most of us can’t wait to jump into the sprawling metropolis of Night City and get our cyberpunk on.
On which platforms can I play the game?
Cyberpunk 2077 will release for PC, Xbox One, and PlayStation 4 on 10 December 2020.
For those wanting to jump in on next-generation consoles such as the Xbox Series X and the PlayStation 5, you’re going to have to wait until sometime in 2021 (here we go again).
There is also a planned Google Stadia release for 10 December. However, the cloud gaming service is not available in all countries or territories.
What are the system requirements for the game?
With only a few weeks to go before the highly anticipated release of Cyberpunk 2077, CD Projekt RED has finally graced us with a full rundown of its system requirements.
Fortunately, it looks like the specs are fairly lenient towards those with lower-end and mid-range gaming rigs.
If you’re looking to experience Night City on Ultra settings with 4K ray tracing though, the requirements become considerably more demanding.
Check out the chart below to see where your rig will fit in:

Does Cyberpunk 2077 have multiplayer?
Yes, and no. The main game, which will release on 10 December 2020, will not have a multiplayer component.
The multiplayer element will rather release as a stand-alone title, very much like GTA V’s multiplayer platform, GTA Online.
“Yes, I mean, the AAA we’re working on in parallel is Cyberpunk Multiplayer – that’s a codename by the way – we’re trying to be as clear as possible in that regard,” explained CD Projekt RED’s Adam Kiciński in a teleconference earlier this year.
He also went on to say that the “release date of Cyberpunk Multiplayer will probably move beyond 2021”.
Do I need to be online to play Cyberpunk 2077?
CD Projekt RED has never directly addressed this question, but we believe Cyberpunk 2077 will definitely be playable offline. We base this on two things…
Firstly, CD Projekt RED has mentioned on multiple occasions that it’s against the use of Digital Rights Management (DRM) software in its games.
Secondly, Cyberpunk 2077 will be available for purchase on GOG, a platform that exclusively sells DRM-free games.
