Here’s a look at the South Africa-themed Apple Watch
Apple has launched a collection of Watch faces and bands to celebrate the 2021 Tokyo Olympic Games and South Africa is one of the countries represented.
The company revealed the limited-edition collection on 29 June.
Each Apple Watch band and face features colours and patterns taken from the flags of each country participating in the Olympic Games.
In South Africa’s case, the band and face feature a six-colour combination of blue, red, green, white, black, and yellow.
The other countries include Australia, Belgium, Brazil, Canada, China, Denmark, France, Germany, Greece, Italy, Great Britain, Mexico, Japan, Sweden, South Korea, Netherlands, Jamaica, New Zealand, Russia, United States, and Spain.
While each band has a matching face, wearers can download different faces to show their support for different countries.
The 2021 Olympic Games will take place in Japan from 23 July to 8 August.
Price and availability
The Apple International Collection bands each cost $49 (R700). It’s not yet clear if the bands will be made available locally.
The bands are available in both 40mm and 44mm sizes. Their packaging includes App Clip functionality so wearers can download the matching country’s watch face.
The faces are also available to download on the Apple website and use Face Sharing to share between wearers.
