Ghost of Tsushima Director’s Cut coming to PS4 and PS5

Ghost of Tsushima Director's Cut PS4 PS5 PlayStation Sucker Punch

Sony and Sucker Punch Productions have announced a director’s cut of Ghost of Tsushima, featuring all-new content, is coming to PS4 and PS5.

The studio revealed the game on 1 July, nearly one year after the game released on the PS4.

“We’ve thought a lot about how to expand Jin’s story, and we’ve also spent the last year poring over all of your feedback about how we could improve the experience of playing Ghost of Tsushima,” Sucker Punch Communications Manager, Andrew Goldfarb, wrote in a blog post.

“We’ve been hard at work on a brand new edition of the game, which not only includes a new chapter in Jin’s journey, but also some new updates that are a direct response to some of the community’s most-requested features.”

What’s new in Ghost of Tsushima Director’s Cut?

The game’s Director’s Cut will feature an all-new location and story for players to enjoy.

Jin travels to Iki, an island that neighbours Tsushima, where he must investigate rumours of a Mongol presence. The situation escalates quickly and Jin finds himself confronting his traumatic past in the face of events with personal stakes.

The island will feature new mini-games, enemy types, armour for Jin to wear, and techniques for players to adopt. It also features new trophies to unlock.

Sucker Punch will release further details about the Iki content soon.

Meanwhile, the game will offer several extra features on the PS5 console. The features include controller haptic feedback, 3D audio enhancements, framerates targeting 60 fps, and lip sync for Japanese voice-over in cutscenes.

Players who own the original game on PS4 can transfer their save files to the PS5 to continue their progress. The Iki content will be available to play starting during Act 2 of the game.

The Director’s Cut will also include a game update that brings accessibility options for alternate controller layouts and target lock-on during combat.
