Google Pixel 2: cheaper variant, waterproof design?
The Google Pixel was one of the most well-received phones of 2016, packing a fast processor, solid design and Google’s Daydream VR suite. However, the phone’s best asset was its 12MP main camera, packing some class-leading low-light performance.
Now, 9to5 Google has reported some interesting information about the Pixel 2, citing “a source that has been reliable in the past”.
According to the publication, a waterproof design is “still on the table” for the Pixel 2. The device is expected to have a price increase of at least US$50 as well.

Otherwise, the source claims that low-light photography will be a big focus for the new handset. In fact, the tipster says that the camera won’t have a large megapixel sensor but will “compensate in extra features”.
In some interesting news, it’s not clear what kind of chip will actually ship in the device, with the source claiming the firm is testing some devices with a “Snapdragon 83x chip” and some with an Intel processor.
But quite possibly the most intriguing claim is that Google is working on a Pixel 2B handset, being a lower priced device with less impressive specs. Now, about updating and expanding the Android One programme…
