Sony smokes Microsoft with ‘free’ games for July 2017
Both Sony and Microsoft have paid subscription services for their gaming consoles, in the form of PlayStation Plus and Xbox Live Gold respectively. As part of the subscription, users get a selection of free games every month.
This month’s selection sees Sony arguably trounce Microsoft, with a variety of killer titles.
Microsoft is delivering Grow Up (1-31 July) and Runbow (16 July-15 August) on Xbox One. Meanwhile, Xbox 360 fans get Kane and Lynch 2 (1-15 July) and Lego Pirates of the Caribbean (16-31 July).
Meanwhile, PS4 owners get Until Dawn, Telltale’s Game of Thrones and That’s You (from 4 July). Other titles include Don’t Die Mr Robot (Vita/PS4), Element 4l (Vita) Tokyo Jungle (PS3) and Darkstalkers Resurrection (PS3).
It’s worth noting that That’s You is Sony’s first PlayLink title, being a PS4 game that lets people join in with their smartphones or tablets. Even if you don’t account for this title, you’re still getting a great mix of games if you’re a PS Plus subscriber.
