Nokia 7 official, packing efficient Snapdragon 630 chip, OZO Audio
HMD Global seems to be on a roll this year, with its first crop of Nokia smartphones (3, 5 and 6) and its first flagship all cautiously looking like great handsets. Now, we have another Nokia-branded smartphone, in the form of the Nokia 7.
Available in China for now at a starting price of RMB2499, the phone seems like a firm step between the Nokia 6 and Nokia 8. There’s a power-efficient Snapdragon 630 and 4GB/6GB of RAM for starters — more powerful than the Nokia 6’s Snapdragon 430 but less capable than the flagship’s Snapdragon 835 silicon.
Other noteworthy hardware specs include 64GB of expandable storage (via hybrid SIM slot), a 5.2-inch full HD LCD screen, a rear-mounted fingerprint scanner, headphone jack, USB Type C and 3000mAh battery. The firm adds that the device will ship with Android Nougat but is “Oreo ready”.
In the camera department, you’re looking at a 16MP f/1.8 main shooter and 5MP selfie camera. And yes, the DualSight/Bothie feature is here as well. Another Nokia 8 feature is OZO Audio recording, which promises 360 audio capture.
We’ve contacted HMD’s local representatives about South African availability and will update the article accordingly.
Update, 19 October 2017, 10.41am: A representative said that they “did not know anything” about the Nokia 7 yet.
