The Nubia Red Magic 3 has a ‘turbo fan’ to keep gamers’ hands cool
In a world where foldable phones are pushing the boundaries of the ludicrous in smartphone design, its easy to forget that manufacturers still aren’t done with the current form factor.
Take the Nubia Red Magic 3 for instance. The Chinese firm’s latest gaming phone has a fan built into its chassis to cool its quite ridiculous internals. The company believes its the first of any smartphone to feature a fan, and it’s probably right. But how’s this for a specs list? Snapdragon 855 chipset, a maximum RAM figure of 12GB, up to 256GB of internal storage, a 6.65 inch AMOLED display with a 90Hz refresh rate. Oh, and a 5000mAh battery. We nearly forgot.
The Red Magic 3 also sports dual front facing speakers, a 3.5mm headphone jack, and a single Sony-made 48MP rear camera capable of 8K recording. There’s also a 16MP selfie camera.
For gamers, there are also shoulder buttons for the trigger-happy and a rear fingerprint scanner for those who hate typing in PINs.
All this will cost less than $650 in China when it launches on 3 May, but pricing for lesser-specced models (64GB/6GB) will start at just $430.
The phones also heading to the US and UK, but don’t hold your breath if you’re in South Africa.
