PS4 software update 7.00 is live, widens Remote Play, improves Parties
Sony is this week rolling out its PS4 software update version 7.00, and we can safely say it includes more than just stability updates.
Those who rely on parties to communicate with friends online and in-game can now shove eight more members into an online group, pushing the party limit to 16.
Sony has also “improved” network connectivity, and audio quality. For US users, chat transcription has been added too via the PS4 Second Screen app.
Speaking of smartphones, Sony has now also added its Remote Play feature to more devices than just Xperias.
It’s now compatible with any Android smartphone running 5.0 Lollipop and newer, regardless of your phone’s maker.
iPhone and iPad users can now “display the controller at all times and lock the screen orientation”.
“Also, players will be able to use their DualShock 4 wireless controllers via Bluetooth for Remote Play on an Android, iPhone, iPad, and Mac. All you need to do is update to Android 10, iOS 13, iPadOS 13, or macOS Catalina (releasing in October) to use this feature,” Sony concluded.
The software update will be rolling out to PS4 systems this week.
