Acer Aspire M5 ultrabook and V5 laptops are touch-friendly, Windows 8 ready
It’s impossible to quantify the potency of 26 October. For one shining day, Microsoft is back on top again as Windows 8 officially launches. With Windows 8, a slew of devices will find its way into the hearts and homes of consumers globally. Products like the newly-released Aspire M5 and V5 ultrabooks and laptops. The M5 is a touchscreen Windows 8 ultrabook, leaving the V5 to be the supermodel-thin baby of the family.
Aspire M5, a touch subject
The M5 is US$799, has a 14-inch screen with an HD-ready 1366 x 768 display, has a dual-core 1.7 Ghz CPU, 6GB RAM, plus an enticing hard-drive combo. A 500GB drive plus a 20GB SSD. Fancy as hell.
No mention on the graphics card but this isn’t a gaming machine. It’s a cool-looking Windows 8 touchscreen ultrabook with backlit keys, an eight-hour battery life and aluminum finishing. This is a “swag” machine but a powerful option nonetheless. All this, and its under 2KG. Just as an aside: It’s US$700 for the non-touch M5, and US$800 for the touch version.
Light to the touch, the Aspire V5
The V5 gives you choice, as in a 14-inch or 15.6-inch screen. It’s also the budget-conscious laptop, with costs starting from US$500. The touchscreen is only offered on the 14-inch version, just so you know, plus it cost’s US$750 if you want to run your fingers over Windows 8. It also comes with 8GB RAM, 750GB hard drive, the same 1366 x 768 resolution.
