Samsung swings more ‘not-so-next-gen’ 8″ and 10″ tablets
Samsung just announced two new tablets to add to its growing heap of touch-screen devices. The new Galaxy Tab 3 Android series includes a 8-inch and a 10.1-inch. These two are likely to be part of a more wide-spread series of expected tablets. Also, given their specs, they’d seem to fit the wallet-friendly market category quite comfortably.
Both tablets will feature Android Jelly Bean but won’t carry mouth-watering specs. The 8-inch holds a 1.5GHz dual-core processor alongside 1.5GB of RAM. The battery is a 4450 mAh and goes behind the 1280X800 pixels. The 8-inch is available in either a 32GB and 64GB. The 8 will also have expandable storage options with the dedicated microSD slot. The 8-inch also has a 5-megapixel rear and a 1.3-megapixel front cam.
Strangely enough, the 10.1-inch seems to be worse-off to its smaller sibling. The 1.6 GHz Dual Core processor with 1GB of RAM holds together a 1280×800. The rear camera is 3-megapixels while the front is the same at 1.3. Powering these specs will be a 6800 mAh battery.
Both the 8-and 10.1-inch are 4G-capable and holds Samsung’s TouchWiz for improved navigational grip. The resolution of the 8-inch beats the 10.1-inch at 189PPI to 149PPI. The Verge claims both CPUs are Samsung’s first Android tablets to carry Intel.
Samsung’s like the Dutch boy with his fingers in the dam. The dam being tablet and phone screen sizes. It’s all over the place. Since it seems to have filled all possible cracks concerning the screen-size target markets, where can it go to next?
Although pricing’s still left in the murky water where rumours float about, these guys are set to makes their way to home beginning of this month. Based on the specs, the 8-and 10.1-inch would probably be entry-level tablets so prices won’t range far above your head.
