BlackBerry A10 or ‘Z00’ sneaks out in leaky video
Ah BlackBerry, keep on trying until you strike gold. Is this your plan with the A10, as seen in this leaked video? Engadget features this Vietnamese-language video of one man and his plan to show off the A10, BB’s fourth stab at a OS 10 device. We can’t understand a word but it’s always a treat to see a new BlackBerry, as long as it’s not the Q5.
The user compares the A10 to the Z10 and for one, the screen is far richer and pixel-dense than BB’s flagship touchscreen device. The Z10’s screen is LED, the A10’s is said to be a 5-inch HD AMOLED screen, which is exactly what Samsung’s best phones such as the S III and S4 rock. Other features include a robust 2 800mAh battery, slots for micro-SIM, SD, HDMI and USB, and the nifty media controls on the right-hand side of the device. The specs of the A10 are actually revealed when the speaker in the video pulls off the rear cover of the A10 (1:60 into the video). Weirdly, the name of the A10, as printed inside the phone is “BlackBerry Z00”. The BlackBerry Z00? Sounds cooler than A10.
The A10, as demonstrated in the video, seems far chunkier thank the Z10 — even the rear looks more rounded. Speaking of the rear, US network At&T has its logo plastered onto it. Presumably because this is a demo unit nabbed from the AT&T’s factory. Weirdly enough though, the internal sticker says “made in Canada.” The bottom of the A10 is covered by two white stickers, and we’re guessing that this is where the stereo speakers sit (same as the Z10 then).
As for the camera, and from the tiny bit of English we heard in the video, the speaker is possibly saying that the front-facing camera is 4-megapixels, which would make it one of the beefiest front-facing cameras on any phone. It’s all pure speculation though, as the speaker just mutters “4” and points to the front camera. It could mean that he is “4” it.
